Toughest day yet...

By far the toughest day of this journey was the day I had to say goodbye to our two cats...  Lexie our beloved 3 legged grumpy cat and Charlie, the baby so sweet and smart.   These two so opposite in character and personality really lit up our lives, especially our daughter's and unbeknownst to him, my husband's too.  With the big move upon us it made sense to do this while we are in the city.  We talked to our daughter about this and prepared her for it, even though she understood, she was heartbroken to think that they would be put up for adoption and live elsewhere but she knew that taking two very vocal cats on a plane for an 11 hour flight to a foreign country would be too tedious a task at this point.  Not to mention the enormous pile of paperwork, we just simply could not add more stress to our already growing pile of paperwork needed...

Our daughter was off to grandma's for a week and it was time, I put them in their individual carriers and cried all the way there.  Even as a reasoning adult this still was so very upsetting, I thought of them as children and to realize that I would never see them again really killed me.  That day was a bad day... Now some weeks later, I feel better about and I know we did the right thing but when I pull out an old sweater full of cat hair I still moan!
